Thank You
I want to extend to you my gratitude for the way that you embraced my cousin, Jerry Lee Lewis, and the album that we made together, which seems to be a blessing to you, and if that is so, we deeply appreciate it.
Jerry Lee gave his heart back to the Lord about two or three years ago, which was an answer to the prayers of thousands of you, and again, we are so grateful. In other words, the Lord answered those prayers, and he along with his wife, Judith, are living for God, and that’s what really matters.
As you know, Jerry Lee suffered a debilitating stroke about three years ago. It hurt very much as it regards his piano playing and even his voice.
Revival Meetings
JI can remember going back some seventy-five years ago, how that Jerry Lee and I would go with my mother and dad to revival meetings, especially tent meetings, to provide the music.
Through the years, I’ve had untold numbers of people ask if Jerry Lee and I could make an album together. Spiritually it wasn’t time then, but now it is. This one has gone over so well that I think we could do a better job on a second one, at least if the Lord would help us, it would be better. To be sure, if the Lord doesn’t help us, then it’s not much good that can be done. But He always has helped us. Please pray about this with me, because I only want to do what the Lord wants done.
Mickey Gilley
In just a few days, we should have the preliminary work done regarding an album with me and Mickey. As most of you know, Mickey passed away a few months ago. He too suffered a fall, which stopped the use of his hands respecting the playing of the piano. But the man could still sing, and I mean tremendously so. I’m looking forward to that particular album very much. Again, pray about it with us, if you will.
Ironically, I called Mickey about two days before he passed away, and I asked him if he would be interested in doing this. He agreed immediately.
And then, he was gone. But Mickey had just recorded some gospel songs that I’m positive will be a tremendous blessing. So pray about this with us, that if we go ahead and do it, which I’m almost certain we will, that the Lord would bless it abundantly. With Him it will be a blessing to the people; without Him it’s not worth anything.
When I was about twelve years old and Mickey a year younger, he came to me one day and said, “I want to learn to play the piano. Would you show me what you know?”
Gladly I did that, and he started playing almost immediately.
About two years ago, I believe Mickey made things right with the Lord. He called me on the phone one day and said, “Cousin, I’ve just made things right,” and from that moment on, his life changed totally and completely. I thank the Lord that this happened just shortly before he died.
His mother was one of the godliest women I ever knew. And to be sure, the Lord answered her prayers, even though it took a while for it to come to pass.
To change the subject, I want to thank you so very, very much for the help that you constantly give us as it regards the taking of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. Thank you for being a part of this. Thank you for letting the Lord use you. Thank you for opening your heart to all that the Lord can do.
We love you, and God bless you.
In the Master’s service, yours,
Jimmy Swaggart
